From Weeds to Garden...Like Magic!

So this weekend we just decided on a whim to till up the land behind the house and build a garden.

The crazy part is we first started by going to Home Depot in the morning to buy some tools to dig up everything and weed everywhere. After a fun-filled morning shopping, we spent a good part of the afternoon weeding when Alicia had an ingenious idea:

"Why don't we just till this all up instead of removing the weeds one by one?"

So off to the neighbors I went to find a till. No luck, but they told me a place about .5 miles from the house where I could rent one for $20!

So I went by and loaded up the van and brought home the tiller and got started!

We dug up some interesting things while we were tilling the land, but our favorite was a fork.

Now you might ask, why would we care so much for a fork? Well, we have discovered that there are forks in virtually every location we can think of. We have found a fork in each of the vents in the floor in our living room; we found one in the sewer pipe clean out; we found one in the rocks in the basement where the furnace is; we found one in the crawl space in the back room; and now we have found one while digging up the yard. So forks hold a very special place in our hearts in our new home!
Here is a video of the work, and the final picture of completion!

Awesome rental deal on the tiller! We thought about renting one for a weekend to do our lawn, but it would have cost more to rent than to buy one brand new. So we bought one new and then sold it a week later on Craigslist.

The forks are funny!
