Family Pictures Summer 2008

Here are our pictures by Allison at Pretty Little Pictures

She did an awesome job and I can't wait to go back again!!! I swear she made my kids look like stars and made to look like they should be on the cover of a magazine.

How Can I Say No....

I have been proud of myself for nursing this long because I never expected to make it a year or even past that magic year mark, but Katy has had other ideas for her free milk from mom. I have been trying really hard to get her out of the bed in the middle of the night for a feeding at 11 and 5, but no such luck yet. I think they are more for comfort more than anything.

Which brings me to my title of the post... How can I say no when at around 2 in the morning last night Katy woke up and Steve could not get her back to sleep, so I took her and she wanted to lay down and snuggle. Then I hear "Peasseee" Katy's version of please. She is pulling at my bra to get it open and still saying "Peasseee" Then I hear the big "AAAWWWWW". (Her mouth is wide open and wanting some food!) How can a Mom say no?!?!?! Of course I am gonna let her nurse and then come the sound effects from my kid...."MMMMMmmmmmmm." This is a true moment that I know my Katy is the baby. Who can look into those big blue eyes saying please and not want to nurse their baby?!?!?!?

Doctor Updates......

I had to take Hannah and Katy in for their appointments today, so here is the update.

Katy: 20.5 lbs and 30 inches

Hannah: 34 lbs. and 40 inches
(we will have to make sure Hannah has on some good shoes, so she can ride some good rides in San Diego in a few weeks)

Way to go girls!!! It was the first appt. with all three of the girls that I think I talked to the doctor without yelling to him b/c the kids were being so loud.

Katy's First Birthday Celebration

Now that it is almost the end of the week, I am finally getting around to posting the pics and movie clip from Sunday's party at mom's house. Katy had a great time eating her cake and hopping up and down on her zebra toy that we got her.

**Note: I am always a bargin shopper, so when we found that toy after Christmas for more than half off Katy quickly got her birthday present. Yes it has been sitting in our hall closet for months but I would rather pay just a few dollars rather than over $50 like it can be!!**

Katy liked her cake but didn't really get messy. Oh well she really does eat well, so there wasn't all that much that ended up in her lap because it was all in her tummy!! She was so funny too since when people would stop and look at her, Katy would stop eating her cake!!

Father's day was on Sunday too and we had fun with that. I took in Steve's bike to the shop for a tune up and new tires. Of course it still isn't done yet, but hopefully it will be done by tomorrow. I think he was rather happy with his Used, but New gift for father's day. We also got him a cool thing for the grill for fish and a hot dog roaster too. Anything for the grill is good for him.

All in all it was a busy but really fun weekend. I always seem to be doing something these days!! I'd rather be busy than just sitting in my house looking at the same four walls.

Hannah's First Swim Meet

My little Hannah is so grown up walking around the pool in her swim cap and goggles! Where did the last 5 years go?!?!? Hannah has gotten a great tan, learned how to goof off at practice, and manage to know that in freestyle you don't stop swimming and when you swim backstroke you don't roll over to your tummy all in a matter of a few weeks of swim team. What else more could I ask for??

I am so proud of my Hannah today! She did AWESOME at this first little meet here for Hilltop. I signed her up for a 25 Back and a 25 Free since I thought that would give her the best chance at getting a ribbon for her first efforts. Back was event #9 and Mom was timing in that lane!! I told Han to just stay on her back and keep going. She would just swim to Grandma's voice and run into the wall but I didn't tell her that!! She did great on her little swim and found her little motor too!! Her coaches could not believe at how well she did, since she plays around in practice and never swims a whole 25 yards.

Then it was time for the long wait!! Her next event was event 53, so we had a lot of waiting to do. Snacks, sitting in the heat, a trip down the big slide, more waiting, another treat, and more waiting. Finally it was time for event 53, 25 Freestyle. We get her over to where she is swimming and guess what Hannah has to go to the bathroom!! We hurry and make it fast and she made it for her swim. This time she did it again another great swim with out stopping!!! Why doesn't she do this in practice?!?!?

All in all it was a great day for her. I think she really gained some confidence with swimming her backstroke and doing well at it!
Results for the night were: 25 Back, 8th place Time: 55.14
25 Free, 8th Place Time: 49.92

GO HANNAH!! There is room for improvement and next time she wants to swim the 25 Fly!! I am glad that we have a month to work on that!!

All of her pictures are not loading today into blogger so click on this link to see them at facebook ------> Pictures of Swim Meet

Happy Birthday Katy

We had a fun day on thursday with katy for her first birthday. It was a warm 65 out and that's really warm for us right now. I decided that the kids needed to have a little fun in the little turtle that we have. So I filled it up with super cold water (what else are you gonna get out of the hose pipe when it is 65 outside)!! and put the girls in their suits to have some fun in the sun!! I am kicking myself now b/c the looks on all of their faces when they sat down in the water for the first time are priceless!! Oh well there is always next time.

I know that this is all about Katy but I had to add the whole commentary from Ruby! It is so cute!! She lets you know all about it and her trying to decide if she wants to be potty trained or not!! Oh my Ruby.....please......soon make up your mind that you can go potty on the potty chair!!

The other pictures were from the morning time. Katy has just enough hair for two twigs!! I thought that all of you would like that. She is definately my girl who does not like having her hair done. I think we are gonna have to work on that one!! And WOW look a picture of me!! How cool is that?!?! I am just so happy because I made it to my goal of nursing Katy for a year. We made it and are well on our way to still nursing for a while longer. I am not sure how long this baby of mine is gonna want to nurse, but I will let her for a while longer. No getting my bewbies back for a while I think. She is the baby so that is the only reason why she is getting away with this.

Well there will be more pictures after Sunday when Katy gets to smash her cake at Grandma's house!!!

One Year Ago Today......

One year ago today my baby Katy Anne was born! Has it been a year already?!?!? Seems like the first year goes by so fast when you already have kids. I think that Katy has had more pictures taken than any of the other girls thanks to my camera!! It has been a great first year.

Here is the e-mail that I sent out last year when I had Katy........

Hi Everyone!
After a grueling 41 minutes from when we walked into the hospital, Katy Anne made her apperance into the world!!
Katy was 7 Lbs. Even, 19 1/2 inches long and was added as the baby sister at 8:33 pm on Tuesday night June 12th.

Now for the long story.
It was a long day for me on Tuesday of getting ready the last minute stuff for the baby. Errands and a few more errands around the valley. I was feeling a little crampy all day long and those that I talked to know that. An ouch here and another one there but nothing really consistant. This went on for most of the day.
I had called the nurses to ask them about these wonderful little cramps, but they said it was "False Labor" and to just take it easy since my induction was on Thursday anyway. I still took Hannah to gymnastics that night. She goes from 5 to 5:45 pm so yes I was getting a few more while she was in class. I got a few more contrax on the way home. I decided to lay down and see what would happen. By 7 pm they were still coming on while I was laying down on the couch and I knew it was time to get going. It took us a few minutes to get out of the house b/c I never did pack a little bag for the girls, so I went into total mom mode getting outfits and stuff for the next day.
So we start driving to my mom's who isn't home. Hahaha. They were down at the horse center, so Garrett and my Mom just threw the horse in the trailer saddle and all and came as fast as they could to the house. They were there and we were gone. The drive to the hospital went rather well other than the fact that we kept getting behind slow cars!!! We got a few bad looks and some fingers on the way, but I could care less!!
We got to the hospital and I wanted the anthesia person before I would give them my name. I got signed into the book and taken to a room. I was so glad that all of my info was in the computer b/c it moved the process a little faster along. While I was begging for an epidural, they want to check me and tell me that I can't get one until I have an iv in and my bloodwork done. I tell them that I have two arms and get it done!!! (All this natural labor stuff....I don't know how people do it!!! It hurts like HELL!!!) They check me too and I'm already at a 7+ and 100% with a bulging bag of waters!!!
So I get my IV in and Steve signs the papers b/c I'm not even admitted yet to the hospital so I can finally get my epi. They want me to lay down!! Hahaha!!! I go from being my 7 to Complete while I get on my side and oh the pressure!!! Thank goodness she gets my epi in and just pushes in a ton of meds instead of hooking me to a pump!! It was just enough to take the edge off but I could still feel that pressure!!
My doctor walks in as I am getting done and sure enough I am complete and I wanted to push! He breaks my water finally!!! and I get down to business. Katy was sunny side up again and we found that out after a push or two. He turns her and she is here in a matter of a minute or so and cute as could be!! She looked like a little Cabbage Patch premie to me b/c she was so small.

Time for a Change......

We find ourselves in June already and coming up on one of our favorite holidays. Fourth of July!!! So it was time for a change in backgrounds!! Red, White and Blue!! Katy was my closest hope of having a birthday on our first and favorite holiday as a couple. She was close enough to Flag Day (june 14th), so in honor of her first birthday and the fourth of july we changed backgrounds.

Along with change there is a quick update:

Steve: After confessing to the whole bike thing, Hannah is doing better. Who cares after she got a new bike right?!?!? Steve also has a radio ad that airs like 5 times a day. I thought it was bad trying to get a hold of him before the ads. Now there is no way I can ever get through on his phone. The whole SL Valley has his phone number!!! It has done good though since he has a few full days of interviews!! Talk about being busy.

Hannah: She has done great these first few days of swim practice. They let them practice in a half length part of the pool (12 1/2 yards) with lane lines and all!! She is so cute and has even found a few friends to talk to during practice.

Ruby: Loves the pool and can't wait to go back every day. She did learn yesterday that she can't fall into the lazy river or else you go under and mom has to save you. YES I did have to jump in and get my kid!! No panic she did hold her breath and waited to be caught!

Katy: Loves the pool too and has NO FEAR whatsoever in the water. She wants to keep on walking or crawling even after she is all the way under. You can't keep her out of the water. So between her and Ruby I am very busy at the pool every day.

Me:.......hummm........I decided that I am going to paint my room and get Steve to make me a platform bed. I have an idea in my head so now I need to make a picture/diagram for my hubby since he does SO much better with a picture. I am painting myself and all my walls are going to be different colors from our bed set. Once the bed is made (which I am guessing that I will be doing by myself), I will be sanding and staining the bed too. I think that this whole platform bed is going to be my project. I just need someone to show me how to use a nail gum without hurting myself. I just need the man power to help me move the thing since I think it is gonna be really heavy in the end. I guess that a girl has to do what a girl needs to do when it comes to getting a new bed frame!!

I have fabric to match for the curtains, so I need to sew those up too along with my quilt project that I am starting too. My room will rock when it is done! I just need to get it all done and get Katy out of the room at the same time. It will all come together soon.

That's us for now with our time for change.

Birthday Bike Saga

So I thought I should write the story of the bike pretty quickly and apologize to Hannah for being such a bad dad!

Several months ago right before we moved from West Jordan to American Fork, I was backing out of the driveway and ran over her bike. It just so happened to be trash day that day and I promptly set the bike in the garbage can (it was pretty messed up). Since we were moving, we just pretended it was packed (see how bad I am!) So I am glad we were able to get a bike again (plus the other one was too small anyway, so it worked out!)
